You Don’t Need To Be An Expert To Get Started As A Creator
3 Types Of Knowledge To Leverage As A Brand New Creator
--
I held myself back for so many years from jumping into the creator economy because I didn’t feel like an ‘expert.’
Even though in the age of the internet anyone can turn on a camera or put words on a page we still have this mindset that we must have something expert to say before we do.
It obviously comes from a deep-seated belief from so many years past when experts were the only ones who could afford to put their words on paper & publish them. Or when we would switch on the TV to see ‘experts’ sharing their hard-earned knowledge.
But in the creator economy expertise is not a requirement. All you need is some knowledge & a willingness to share it with the world.
Some of the most successful creators these days are the ones who are on a journey (& documenting it) rather than ones who have arrived at some pre-determined destination.
The three types of knowledge you can leverage as a new creator
If you’ve been holding yourself back as a creator because you feel like you are not an expert or don’t have enough knowledge to share — I’ve got good news for you. You can leverage whatever level of knowledge you have & start sharing it online.
Leverage other people’s knowledge.
This kind of knowledge sharing is perfect for new creators who like to consume a lot of content. Think about it. There is literally an endless amount of content on the internet. And it’s a struggle for everyone to find good content.
So if you can serve others by curating the best of it for your audience, you’ll start to become the go-to person. People will start to trust your recommendations.
If you’re at this level of knowledge you can share your knowledge by summarising books, interviewing people in your niche, collating top 5 lists (books, podcasts, articles) or sharing what stands out to you in what you are reading or consuming.
