How to get an insane amount of content ideas every day by simply scrolling through your feed
If you treat it right your Social Media Feeds can serve you up some of the most delicious insights & ideas.
Most people treat their social media feeds as a chance to check out of life for a while. But hiding in those dopamine-inducing screens can be some of your juiciest insights as a creator.
For instance, today while casually scrolling through my Twitter feed I had three separate pretty powerful & thought-provoking insights come up.
→ Something practical I want to implement
→ Something that was connected a content idea that’s brewing
→ Something deeply personal that I want to explore further through journaling & writing.
And it’s not unusual for me to get these kind of insights daily from my Twitter or other social media feeds. In fact, I get more insights from Twitter these days than I do from books or articles.
If you’re not getting insights like this regularly from your Twitter feed you’re either:
- Following the wrong people
- Not sure how to take notice of sparks & insights
- Or you don’t have a foolproof way to capture them
Three Ways I Harness My Social Media Feeds To Find Deep Insights
Curate Your Feed.
I only have one condition when deciding if I will follow someone and that is — are they interesting? I want my feed to be full of thought-provoking, interesting thoughts & ideas.
If you fill your feed with interesting people & ideas you’ll light up every time you open those dopamine-pecking apps.
So decide on some clear boundaries of what you want to see in your feed and start following those kinds of people.
On apps like Twitter, you can go one step further and curate a list of interesting people. I call mine — my Spark List. And I regularly scroll the list rather than what the algorithm serves me up.
